This little trick might be controversial, but I genuinely think it’s a stroke of genius. Some of you might roll your eyes, others will run to their kitchen cupboards immediately. Either way, it’s too good not to share!
Now don’t worry — this is not about depriving our kids of cake, icing, or party fun (we’re not monsters!). Everything they love is still there. BUT… we’re sneaking in a little nutritional win, and honestly, it couldn’t be easier.
Here’s the hack:
Add chia seeds to your sprinkles. That’s it.
Two steps:
Pop a tablespoon of chia seeds into your sprinkle jar (I used about 1 tbsp for half a bottle).
Give it a good shake. Use as normal.
Why bother?
Because chia seeds are packed with protein and fibre — and they’ve got basically no taste. I actually tested this out at a recent workshop with 26 kids. Gave them plain chia seeds to try off their hands and not one of them noticed anything! No complaints, no weird faces, just happy snackers. 🥳
So yes, the cake still looks fun and magical. Yes, the kids still get their sugar fix. But now there’s a teeny bit of goodness in there too.
